Profit Margin Calculator

Calculate profit and profit margin from revenue and total costs.

Whatever costs you want to measure against — cost of goods only (a gross margin), or every cost including advertising and overhead (a net margin). Be consistent about which one you're calculating.

Formula

Profit = Revenue − Total Costs

Profit Margin = Profit ÷ Revenue × 100

This is a general-purpose margin calculator — what "total costs" means is up to you. For a margin figure that specifically feeds break-even ROAS or CPA math, use the Contribution Margin Calculator instead, which is scoped to variable costs only.

Worked Example

$50,000 in revenue against $32,000 in total costs leaves $18,000 in profit — a margin of $18,000 ÷ $50,000 × 100 = 36%.
